Parents

If you’re thinking about how arguments, tension or communication might be affecting your child, you’re not alone. Many parents and carers want things to feel calmer and more secure at home, especially during stressful times.

Support is available, and you don’t need to be in crisis to access it.

Upcoming webinars

We offer free, anonymous online webinars for parents and carers across the East Midlands.

These sessions are designed to be supportive, practical and non-judgemental.

You don’t need to share personal details, turn your camera on, or speak if you don’t want to.

Think of it as doing something a bit different for half an hour - instead of scrolling or watching another show, you can hear from an expert, pick up a few ideas, and see if anything feels useful for you and your child.

Support in your local area

Every local authority across the East Midlands offers support for parents and carers, often through Family Hubs, early help services and local partners.

What’s available varies by area, but local support can include advice, relationship or communication support, parenting programmes, and help finding the right services for your family.

The best place to find up-to-date, local information is your local authority’s website, where you can see what support is available near you and how to access it.

If you’re unsure where to start, choosing your local authority below is a good first step.

National support and information

If you’d rather explore support at your own pace, these national organisations offer free, confidential information and help for parents and carers across England.

Relate's online chat tools

Relate offers free, self-guided online chat tools that help parents reflect on communication, disagreements and everyday relationship challenges in a private, non-judgemental way. The tools guide you through questions and prompts to help you pause, think things through and explore different ways of responding.

the 'me in the middle' bot

Do conversations with you and your partner or co-parent often turn into arguments? Do you wonder how your child is coping? Are you worried about the impact that the conflict is having on your family?

The ‘in the middle’ Bot is a chatbot that’s trained on how your child experiences your relationship. With a small amount of information and zero judgement from us, you can get insight into how your child might be feeling.
